Wagering Requirement Calculator
Understand what any bonus offer actually costs you in expected value — enter terms you’ve seen on an operator’s own site.
How the calculator works
This tool does pure math on numbers you enter — it does not reference any specific operator’s current promotion, and it never recommends an operator based on bonus size. Use it to sanity-check any bonus terms you see once you’re on a licensed operator’s own site.
Which games are cheapest for meeting a casino bonus wagering requirement in Ontario?
Picking slots just because they “count 100%” isn’t the full picture. What actually decides how much a wagering requirement costs you, on average, is the ratio between each game’s house edge and its contribution percentage:
Example: a slot with 96% RTP (4% house edge) that contributes 100% has an expected cost of 4% of the amount wagered. Blackjack with 99.5% RTP (0.5% house edge) that contributes only 10% has an expected cost of 5% — more expensive than the slot, despite the better RTP. That’s why RTP on its own isn’t enough to decide.
Typical contribution by game type (general industry ranges)
| Game type | Typical contribution to wagering | Typical RTP |
|---|---|---|
| Slots | 100% | 94% – 97% |
| Video poker | 5% – 10% | 96% – 99% |
| Blackjack / Roulette (RNG) | 10% – 25% | 97% – 99.5% |
| Live casino | 0% – 10% | 97% – 98.5% |
Note: these are general industry ranges, not the terms of any specific Ontario operator. Contribution tables and wagering requirements vary by operator and change often — always check the current terms on the AGCO / iGaming Ontario-licensed operator’s own site before opting in.
How do I use this with the calculator above?
Enter the RTP of the game you plan to play in the “Expected RTP” field. If that game contributes less than 100% to wagering (table games, live casino), your real wagering is higher than it looks: divide the requirement by the game’s contribution percentage. A 30x requirement played on a game that counts 10% is effectively 300x.
Does a lower expected cost mean I’ll win?
No. Expected cost is a long-run average; any single session can end well above or below it, and every casino game has a negative expected value for the player.
